Reverse stockinette stitch is a knitting pattern where the purl bumps face the right side of the fabric. It is created by purling on the right side and knitting on the wrong side, resulting in a bumpy, textured surface opposite to the smooth V-shapes of standard stockinette.
Work the next four rows in rev st st before starting the cable panel.
Because it exposes the purl bumps, reverse stockinette is often used as a background for cables to make them stand out.
