Rebeam

verbStandard termTextiles

To transfer warp yarn from one storage cylinder to another.

The process of unwinding warp threads from an initial storage beam and winding them onto a final loom beam. This step is often necessary to combine multiple section beams into one continuous sheet of warp, or to correct uneven tension issues before the warp is mounted onto the loom for weaving.

Heard on the job

The tension on the left side was completely slack, so we had to rebeam the entire warp to salvage the yardage.
