Kitchener stitch

nounStandard termTextiles

A hand-sewing technique used to graft two sets of live knitted stitches together.

A method of joining two rows of live knitting stitches end-to-end using a blunt needle and yarn, creating an invisible, continuous row of knit stitches. The technique involves alternating steps on the front and back needles, dropping stitches off as they are secured. It is highly valued for closing the toes of socks or joining shoulder seams without leaving a bulky ridge.
