Lock off

verbShop talkTextiles

To secure the final threads of a woven or sewn piece to prevent unravelling.

This finishing step involves knotting, backstitching, or weaving the loose ends of warp or weft threads back into the main body of the textile. Weavers and sewers perform this action immediately after removing a piece from the loom or finishing a seam. It stabilizes the raw edge and ensures the structural integrity of the fabric before further processing or hemming.
