Overlock

nounStandard termTextiles

A machine stitch that sews over the edge of fabric to prevent fraying.

An overlock is a stitch created by a specialized machine that loops multiple threads over the raw edge of one or more layers of fabric. It simultaneously sews a seam, encases the edge, and often trims the excess fabric, producing a clean, durable, and stretchy finish.
