Jigman

nounStandard termTextiles

A textile worker who operates a jigger machine to dye batches of cloth.

A dyehouse operator responsible for running a jigger, a machine that passes open-width fabric back and forth through a dye bath. The operator controls tension, speed, and temperature to ensure even color penetration across the entire roll. They must monitor the yardage carefully to prevent creasing or uneven uptake during the passes.
