Scob

nounShop talkTextiles

A weaving defect where the weft yarn skips over warp threads it should have interlaced with.

A structural flaw in woven fabric caused by the weft yarn floating over a small section of warp threads instead of properly interlacing. This usually happens when a few warp ends fail to lift or drop cleanly during the shed formation, leaving a visible skip or loose thread on the fabric face.
