This structural defect occurs on a loom when the shuttle or rapier inserts a weft thread out of sequence, skips a shed, or breaks entirely. It leaves a visible horizontal line or gap across the width of the fabric where the pattern is interrupted. Inspectors downgrade fabrics with these flaws, as they compromise both the visual pattern and the structural integrity of the cloth.
