Hong Kong finish

nounStandard termTextiles

A premium seam finishing technique where raw fabric edges are encased in a narrow strip of bias binding.

A method of finishing interior seams by wrapping each raw edge individually with lightweight bias tape, usually silk or cotton lawn. The binding is stitched to the right side of the seam allowance, folded over the edge, and stitched in the ditch from the front. It provides a clean, bulk-free interior for unlined jackets and high-end couture garments.
