A small piece of residual material attached to a workpiece after a cutting, welding, or grinding operation. These are typically weld spatters, metal burrs, or hanging plastic flash that failed to break off cleanly. They must be manually knocked off or deburred before the part can pass inspection, fit into an assembly, or proceed to the paint booth.

Grab a file and knock those dingleberries off the edge before you send the bracket to assembly.
Insider tip
Leaving dingleberries on a finished part is a quick way to fail a quality control inspection and annoy the next person down the assembly line.
