A piece of equipment or a situation that is damaged beyond any hope of repair.

An acronym standing for fouled up beyond all recognition, originating in military slang but widely used in industrial and technical settings. It describes machinery that has suffered catastrophic failure, or a project that has gone so completely wrong that it cannot be salvaged. When a technician declares a part in this state, it means it must be scrapped and entirely replaced.
