Worn out, broken, or damaged beyond the point of repair.

Describes a tool, component, or machine that has reached the absolute end of its service life. A part that is shot cannot be salvaged, rebuilt, or patched. It usually implies mechanical failure from severe wear, stripped threads, blown seals, or metal fatigue.

Throw that bearing in the scrap bin, the inner race is completely shot.
