The most skilled hand on a gunning crew: the person who holds and aims the nozzle, adjusts water at the nozzle on dry gunning, keeps the distance and angle right and builds the lining up in even passes. A good nozzleman keeps rebound low, avoids laminations and sand pockets, and knows from the sound and look of the mix whether the water is right. Many specs require a qualified nozzleman with a test panel shot on site.
