A flat wooden or metal tray used to store and move composed metal type.

A sturdy, flat board with raised edges used in traditional print shops to hold composed metal type before it is locked into a chase or after it has been printed. It allows compositors to safely slide heavy, tightly packed forms of type around the shop without the pieces falling apart.

Slide that form onto a letterboard and put it in the rack until we're ready to impose it.
