Shop shorthand for embedded items: weld plates for steel beams, anchor bolts for columns, inserts for hangers, conduit sleeves and similar hardware. They have to be set, tied and surveyed before the pour, because a missed or misplaced embed means drilled anchors, redesigns and backcharges. Superintendents walk the embed layout against the drawings before signing the pour card.
Steel erector says three embeds on line C are four inches off, so the engineer's going to want epoxy anchors and a sketch.
