Fascet

nounStandard termCeramics & Glass

A long handled wire basket used to transfer hot glass to an annealing oven.

A specialized glassmaking tool consisting of a wire cage or fork mounted on a long rod. Factory workers and glassblowers use it to safely grip and transport newly formed, extremely hot glass vessels from the workbench to the lehr. This allows the piece to be moved without touching the delicate outer surface with heavy tongs.

Grab the fascet and carry that batch of bottles over to the lehr before they cool too much and crack.
