Pottery vessels featuring specific decorative patterns applied to their rims.

A type of historic tableware characterized by a molded or painted border around the rim of the plate or vessel. The center is usually left plain or lightly decorated. The most common varieties include shell-edge patterns painted in cobalt blue or green under the glaze, often found on early creamware bodies.
