Creamware

nounStandard termCeramics & Glass

A refined, light-colored earthenware with a transparent lead glaze.

A type of fine earthenware made from white clays and calcined flint, covered in a clear lead glaze that gives it a pale, creamy yellow tint. It was developed to mimic expensive imported porcelain while remaining affordable to produce. Its clean, smooth surface made it ideal for intricate transfer printing and hand-painted decoration.
