Cassette

nounStandard termCeramics & Glass

A refractory container used to protect ceramic wares from direct flame and debris during firing.

A protective ceramic box or enclosure used inside a kiln to shield pottery from ash, direct flames, and volatile glaze fumes. Wares are stacked inside the cassette, which is then sealed before firing. This ensures a clean, controlled atmosphere for delicate glazes or specific atmospheric effects.
