A girthweld is a continuous circular weld made around the perimeter of a pipe, tube, or pressure vessel. In pipeline construction, these welds connect individual joints of pipe into a continuous line. They are typically subjected to rigorous non-destructive testing, such as radiography or ultrasound, because a failure compromises the entire pipeline.
The automated bug is set up to run the hot pass on this 36-inch girthweld.
