Angled preparation cut or ground on the edge of a member. Pipe is commonly beveled at 37.5 degrees per side, giving a 75 degree included groove, with a small land at the root. Bevels are made with a torch, plasma, beveling machine or grinder, and must be cleaned of oxide and dross before welding.
Bevel's got torch slag and drag lines all over it, grind it bright before you fit it up.
