Worming

nounStandard termTextiles

A defect where yarn twists or bunches up into coil-like loops after weaving.

A structural defect in textiles where a yarn untwists or bunches up, forming small, worm-like coils on the surface of the fabric. It typically occurs in chenille or highly twisted plied yarns when the tension applied during construction is released, causing the fibers to distort and push out of the fabric matrix.
