A drawboy was a worker, traditionally a young boy, who sat atop or beside a complex drawloom and manually pulled the cords to lift specific warp threads for pattern weaving. This grueling and error-prone job was rendered obsolete by the invention of the Jacquard machine, which automated the lifting sequence using punched cards.

The museum has a working drawloom where they demonstrate the old drawboy system.
