Drawing frame

nounStandard termTextiles

A machine used in yarn manufacturing to draft and blend slivers of fiber.

A drawing frame is industrial spinning equipment that combines several thick ropes of carded fiber, called slivers, and stretches them between sets of rollers spinning at increasing speeds. This drafting action straightens the fibers, blends different batches for consistency, and produces a single, highly uniform sliver ready for the roving frame.
