Heck

nounStandard termTextiles

A guiding apparatus used to separate warp threads during the warping process.

A grid-like device on a warping machine that separates and guides individual warp threads as they travel from the creel to the warping reel. The heck ensures the threads remain parallel and evenly spaced, preventing tangles and maintaining uniform tension before they are wound onto the warp beam.

Heard on the job

Check the heck to make sure none of the ends have crossed over each other before we start winding.
