Traveler hook

nounStandard termTextiles

A specialized hand tool used by mill workers to replace the small metal clips on a ring spinning frame.

This small, handheld metal hook allows operators to quickly pop worn travelers off the spinning rings and snap new ones into place. The traveler is a tiny C-shaped clip that guides the yarn and imparts twist as it spins around the ring. Using the hook prevents finger injuries and drastically speeds up the maintenance of the spinning frame during a shift.
