Traveller

nounStandard termTextiles

A small metal or plastic ring used in ring spinning to guide yarn onto a bobbin.

A tiny, C-shaped clip of metal or plastic that rides freely around the flange of the ring in a ring spinning frame. It guides the yarn as it travels from the drafting rollers to the bobbin, imparting twist and winding tension simultaneously. Spinners must select the correct weight and profile of the traveller to match the yarn count and prevent excessive breakages.

We need to change out the travellers on frame four, they're starting to burn out at these speeds.
