A reciprocator carries a column of automatic guns and strokes them vertically at a set speed and stroke length matched to line speed and part height. Settings are chosen so passes overlap evenly and no band gets skipped or doubled. Many lines add manual touch-up stations before or after the reciprocators for recesses and edges the automatics miss.
Bump the recip stroke up six inches, the tall cabinets are coming out light at the top.
Set recip speed and stroke so each pass overlaps the last by about half a fan width; less overlap shows up as striping.
