A full color change means blowing down the booth walls, purging and cleaning hoses, pumps and guns, emptying hoppers and either cleaning the cyclone and sieve or switching filters. It can take under 10 minutes on a quick-change cyclone booth and well over an hour on a cartridge booth running reclaim. Scheduling runs light to dark and grouping colors cuts the number and the risk of specks.
We've got six color changes on today's schedule, run white first and black last or we'll be cleaning all night.
