At turn-up a new spool is brought against the reel drum and the sheet is cut and started on it, using air, a tape strip or a cutting device. A clean turn-up loses only a few wraps; a bad one causes a break or a wad of broke on the floor. It is also when the dry-end crew pulls the reel sample for the lab.
Grab a sample at the next turn-up, the lab wants a fresh pad for brightness.
