Single curve

nounStandard termMetallurgy

A sheet metal shape bent along only one axis without stretching or shrinking the material.

A single curve is a two-dimensional bend applied to a flat sheet, resulting in shapes like cylinders, cones, or simple radiused brackets. Because the material is only folded or rolled in one direction, the metal's thickness remains uniform and its internal stresses are minimal. It requires basic equipment like a press brake or slip roll.

The ducting transition is just a single curve, so we can roll it out on the slip rolls in five minutes.
