A severe material failure where metal separates along a line of high tension, often occurring at the edges of a sheet during deep drawing, rolling, or flanging. It happens when the material's ductility is exhausted and the localized strain exceeds its ultimate tensile strength.
We got a bad split on the flange radius because the blank holder pressure was too high.
