This forming process squeezes sheet or bar metal between heavy steel rolls below its recrystallization temperature. The intense pressure flattens the material while simultaneously work-hardening the crystal structure. It yields a product with a smooth surface finish, tight dimensional tolerances, and higher tensile strength compared to material processed hot.
