Blabbermouth

nounShop talkFire & Safety

A specialized foam-dispensing nozzle used primarily in aircraft rescue and firefighting.

A wide-mouthed nozzle attachment designed to aerate and expand firefighting foam concentrate as it leaves the hose. The wide, flattened shape of the nozzle tip resembles a talking mouth, which gives the tool its nickname. It is highly effective at laying down a thick, wide blanket of foam over aviation fuel spills.

Heard on the job

Grab the blabbermouth and start blanketing the fuel spill under the left wing.

Insider tip

The wide dispersion pattern sacrifices reach for coverage area, making it ideal for ground spills but poor for penetrating deep-seated fires.
