Fire bucket

nounStandard termFire & Safety

A specialized bucket used to carry water or sand for extinguishing small fires.

A bucket, traditionally painted red and featuring a rounded or conical bottom, designed specifically for firefighting. The conical bottom prevents it from being set down easily, discouraging people from stealing it for general use and ensuring it remains available for emergencies. While largely replaced by pressurized extinguishers in buildings, they are still used in wildland mop-up operations.
