These heavy-duty ramps are deployed over large-diameter hose lines when they must cross active roadways or access paths. They prevent vehicle tires from compressing the hose, which would cause a dangerous water hammer effect at the pump and potentially rupture the jacket. Most are built from interlocking sections of hard rubber or aluminum to handle the weight of heavy apparatus.
Engine 4, drop a hose bridge on Main Street so PD can get their cruisers past the supply line.
Always align the bridge sections squarely with the hose. If they sit at an angle, a heavy truck crossing them can push the bridge sideways and pinch the line anyway.
