Shutterer

nounShop talkConcrete

A carpenter or tradesperson specializing in building concrete formwork.

A construction worker who measures, cuts, and erects the temporary molds that hold wet concrete. They ensure the shutters are plumb, level, and heavily braced to prevent blowouts during the pour. The term is heavily used in the UK, Ireland, and Commonwealth countries.

Heard on the job

The shutterers are still tying the kickers, so the pour is pushed to tomorrow.
