This central nervous system of a vehicle groups dozens or hundreds of individual wires into a single, protective outer sheath. It connects sensors, modules, actuators, and power sources while protecting the fragile conductors from abrasion, heat, and vibration. Replacing a damaged harness is often safer than tracing and splicing multiple broken wires.
We need to drop the transmission to get enough clearance to replace the main engine wiring harness.
When probing a wiring harness for a diagnostic test, always back-probe the connectors rather than piercing the wire insulation, which invites corrosion.
