E6010 electrode: 60,000 psi minimum tensile, with a high-cellulose coating that burns into a forceful, digging arc and thin, fast-freezing slag. It penetrates through rust, mill scale and tight fit-ups and handles vertical-down pipe roots, so pipeliners and pressure welders use it for stringers and hot passes. Its welds carry high diffusible hydrogen, and it must not be baked in a rod oven, since it needs its moisture to run properly.
Run the root with eighth-inch 6010, whip it, and get the hot pass in right behind before it cools.
