A joint between two overlapping membrane sheets created on the job site.

A continuous connection made on site to join two separate pieces of roofing or waterproofing membrane. Depending on the material, workers create these joints using hot-air welding, solvent welding, splicing tape, or liquid adhesives. They are the most common points of failure in sheet membrane systems.
