nano-amp

unitShop talkUnits

A nano-amp is one billionth of an ampere, used to measure extremely small electrical currents.

A nano-amp (nA) is a hyphenated spelling of the SI submultiple nanoampere, equal to 10⁻⁹ amps. It is used in electronics to quantify minute leakage currents in semiconductors, the standby power draw of ultra-low-power microcontrollers, and signal levels in sensitive analytical instruments like mass spectrometers.

Heard on the job

We're seeing about 50 nano-amps of leakage current across the diode when it's reverse-biased.
