A nanoampere is one billionth of an ampere, the standard SI unit for very small electrical currents.

A nanoampere (nA) is an SI submultiple of the ampere, equal to 10⁻⁹ amps. It is the formal term used in data sheets and scientific literature to describe minute currents, such as the gate leakage in field-effect transistors or the dark current in photodiodes.
