Extruded as one solid filament rather than spun from multiple twisted fibers, this material is typically made from nylon or polyester. In sewing, it functions as an invisible thread that blends into any fabric color, though it can be stiff and scratchy against the skin. In textiles, thicker versions are woven into heavy-duty meshes or used to give structure to hems and ruffles.
