Ultra High Frequency. A highly utilized band of the electromagnetic spectrum characterized by short wavelengths (1 meter to 10 centimeters). UHF signals propagate strictly by line-of-sight and easily penetrate building walls, making them ideal for television broadcasting, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cellular networks. The short wavelength also allows for relatively small, compact antennas.
Heard on the job
We need to swap the VHF antennas for UHF models if we want the handheld radios to work reliably inside the concrete parking garage.

Do not mix it up with
- VHF: VHF operates at lower frequencies with longer range outdoors, whereas UHF penetrates buildings better but covers less distance.
