VHF

abbreviationStandard termTelecom & IT

Very high frequency refers to radio waves in the range of 30 to 300 megahertz.

Very high frequency designates the portion of the radio spectrum from 30 MHz to 300 MHz. These wavelengths travel strictly by line of sight and penetrate light foliage or non-metallic building materials better than higher frequencies. Broadcasters use VHF for FM radio and legacy television, while aviation and marine operators rely on it for local two-way communications.
