Pegging out

verbShop talkShop Slang

Running a machine or system at its absolute maximum capacity.

Pushing a piece of equipment, engine, or computer system to the highest limit of its performance scale. The term comes from analog meters where the indicator needle hits the physical peg at the top of the dial. Operating in this state generates excess heat and drastically increases the chance of catastrophic failure.
