Overkill

nounShop talkShop Slang

An excessive amount of force, material, or complexity for a given task.

The application of far more capability, strength, or engineering than a job requires. Crews use it to describe over-engineered solutions, using heavy machinery for light tasks, or specifying aerospace-grade tolerances on basic structural brackets. While it guarantees the job will not fail, it wastes time and budget.
