Autonomy

nounStandard termRobotics

The ability of a robotic system to operate and make decisions without human intervention.

Autonomy measures how independently a robot can perceive its environment, plan a course of action, and execute it. It is usually graded on a scale, from teleoperated systems with zero autonomy to fully autonomous systems that handle unexpected edge cases without calling for help. Achieving high autonomy requires robust sensor fusion, path planning, and error recovery algorithms.

We're stuck at level three autonomy until we fix how the navigation stack handles moving forklifts.
