A miner who travels with and manages a train of underground haulage cars.

An underground worker responsible for escorting a train of mine cars as it moves through the haulage drifts. The gang-rider couples and uncouples the cars, throws track switches, signals the hoistman or locomotive driver, and ensures the load travels safely between the working face and the shaft.
