A heavy storm shutter fitted over the exterior of a quarter-gallery door.

A solid wooden shutter or external cover mounted over the windowed doors of a ship's quarter gallery. It is secured during heavy weather to protect the vulnerable glass and prevent seawater from breaching the aft cabins.
